Last week someone said people would start being arrested and that sounded good. George Nader (child porn) was arrested and that made me happy. He was in and out of the White House...doing what?
Who might be arrested this week? Why aren't deplorables informed?

Those who still support this criminal are the true suckers. His crimes affect all of us. Who is the joke on? Everyone. Who is owned? Everyone. He feels superior to his base. He hates his base. Everyone knows this. He detests them. Yet the libs are owned? Yeah, sure.

I am having difficulty with the massive ignorance, hate, and intolerance we see in this country today. It simply makes me sick. These threads help me cope. Thanks everyone for continuing to share links and other information, as well as simply getting why trump, mcconnell etc are so dangerously bad.

I think it's really smart for the Democrats to bring in John Dean and the former federal prosecutors to testify. The oldsters who make up a lot of Trump's idiot base know exactly who Dean is and they, at the very least, feel he acted honorably in direct contrast to what the Trump cabal is doing.

The Mueller Investigation is over. It was a 'bust'. Let's move on. There are crimes Trump has committed- and will commit- that will bring him down (and I think Pelosi knows about a few).
When Mule-face didn't put Trump on the stand to perjure himself (and he would have because he's a compulsive liar) I knew it was all fake, and he and Rosenstein and Barr and others were all in it together.
I'm more interested in him paying-off the Playmates, strippers, etc. (I'm sure there's others); how can you do that and stay President?

Testimony will uncover that avoiding a Trump purge was one of the main objectives of the Mueller investigation.
There's good evidence that Trump wanted and acted to fire Mueller, alter, and terminate the investigation. Mueller's team also developed a legal opinion that Trump probably could successfully fire Mueller. Therefore, the creation of the objective of avoiding a Trump purge came to be an overarching limitation placed on the investigation.
Congress should try to give the American people an idea about the impact of this limitation. Think: "we discovered Trump accepted Russian help, but he tried to fire us or deceive us every time we looked closer at things that would show he committed serious crimes."

A friend of mine said he was out with some buddies over the weekend and a deplorable thought all the guys were just like him. Half weren't but they didn't want to talk politics. That irritated the guy (but he didn't know any of them were Dems he just thought they didn't want to discuss politics) so he said he loved owning the libs. He said he loved saying things, even if he didn't believe them, that he knew would irritate them. One of the guys asked him what irritated him the most that Dems do. He said it pissed him off when he would do something to irritate them and they would just laugh back or say something like "ok" or "sure" and not engage. He said, "I really get them riled up when they engage me and half the time I don't even agree with the shit I say but watching their heads explode is better than getting some."
Is this textbook Arrested Development? This is something an immature 13 year old would do.
At one point one of the guys said he was voting for one of the Dem candidates and the guy just asked why and he said I can't vote for the current guy and he replied oh yeah probably over tariffs and said he'll fix that so he gets people like you back. LOL. Little did he know that guy is a hardcore Dem.

It was in 1987 that Dean argued that Ronald Reagan’s Iran-contra scandal was worse than Watergate. Much much worse, in fact. “The Iran-contra inquiries involve matters of national security,” Dean explained at the time. “Watergate, on the other hand, involved the political security of Richard Nixon. These are Major League matters versus Little League.”
It was 2005, when Democrats were toying around with the idea of impeaching George W. Bush, that then-Sen. Barbara Boxer sent a letter presidential scholars, asking them about comments “by Richard Nixon’s lawyer John Dean that Bush is ‘the first president to admit to an impeachable offense.
And 2019 right on cue.....

C Christie needs to be ignored since he is also a crook. The media must stop giving these obvious crooks airtime. There are enough conservative pundits to go around. Yet, they always go for those who have aspirations, like Christie, or are agitators like Corey L. Enough. During these times, they should give ZERO airtime to figures like these. They need to give airtime to the responsible conservatives (I know, is there such a thing) only. Enough with the bullshit!

Sadly, there are many, many males that love this system, and it definitely ain't only the alpha males. It's the beta males that love it most of all. Tell me where I fit in the hierarchy and I will love you forever. Trump actually exploits that very effectively. He's a fool and an asshole, but he has some instinct for that shit, and a surprising number of men fall for it, constantly.

I want the democrats to stand up for the people as aggressively as the republicans fight for their big corporate interests. I predict that if the congress (house specifically) doesn't grow a back bone and impeach Trump, you're going to see the democratic electorate back away from "main stream" candidates like Biden and Sanders. Nancy Polosi is playing the same game that damned Hillary Clinton in 2016. She's being too conservative with her thinking and needs to take big bold aggressive actions and quit being so overtly political. I think this is why Elizabeth Warren is moving up in the polls. Biden's "I want to be friends with republicans and work across parties isn't going to play well in this IMPEACH THE MOTHER FUCKER ALREADY environment."

I have a question about Don Jr. and his meeting with Russian agents to get dirt on Hillary. Mueller decided not to prosecute him because Mueller had difficulty in determining whether or not the Trump campaign (Don Jr. specifically) understood that taking information from a foreign adversary was illegal. Does that really matter? Isn't a crime a crime whether or not the person committing it knows it is a crime. Did Martha Stewart really know that she was doing insider trading when she took a stock tip which sent her to jail. If I'm speeding but don't know the speed limit, is that a reason to not get a ticket? Also, wasn't Manafort in the meeting? He was campaign chair. He should have know given his work on previous campaigns and his 20+ career working with foreign adversaries. It really seems like there was a very high bar for Mueller to determine crimes. A much higher bar than if the average person committed a much smaller crime. 25% of African American men are in prison for minor drug crimes but these criminal walk the streets. Something is really wrong.

My suggestion is to immediately start impeachment hearings. JUST DO IT. I don't know why Polosi is worried that impeachment hearing are somehow going to help re-elect Trump. In all honest, at this point, I'd rather have the dems do the right thing and hold impeachment hearings. If it means he is somehow re-elected so be it. At least, we did the right thing. From Faux, so I won't link:
Special Counsel recommends firing Kellyanne Conway over alleged Hatch Act violations
The Office of Special Counsel recommended Thursday that Kellyanne Conway be fired from the federal government for violating the Hatch Act on “numerous occasions.”
The Hatch Act is a federal law that limits certain political activities of federal employees.
The OSC, which is separate from the office with a similar name previously run by Robert Mueller, said in a report released Thursday that White House Counselor Conway violated the Hatch Act by “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media."
“Ms. Conway’s violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act’s restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law,” the OSC said in a statement Thursday, noting that Conway has been a “repeat offender.”
The law’s purpose is to ensure federal programs are “administered in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect federal employees from political coercion in the workplace, and to ensure that federal employees are advanced based on merit and not based on political affiliation,” according to the OSC. The office is an independent federal agency that monitors compliance with that law and others.
The White House on Thursday blasted the OSC ruling as “unprecedented.”
“The Office of Special Counsel’s (OSC) unprecedented actions against Kellyanne Conway are deeply flawed and violate her constitutional rights to free speech and due process. Others, of all political views, have objected to the OSC’s unclear and unevenly applied rules which have a chilling effect on free speech for all federal employees,” deputy press secretary Steven Groves said in a statement Thursday. “Its decisions seem to be influenced by media pressure and liberal organizations — and perhaps OSC should be mindful of its own mandate to act in a fair, impartial, non-political manner, and not misinterpret or weaponize the Hatch Act.”

Washington Post: Trump claims farmers wept behind him when he signed an executive order. Video shows otherwise.
When he put pen to paper, Trump recalled, the nearly two dozen men and women standing behind him wept with joy. The emotional outpouring was apparently a first for a contingent in the room, as many of them had never cried before.
And I signed that, and behind me I had homebuilders and farmers mostly, and ranchers. And many of them never cried in their life, including when they born, and they were crying. Yeah," Trump said. “It’s true, though. They were crying behind me. You know that. You know that, Pete. They were crying because we gave them back their land. We took it away. It was like eminent domain. It was terrible. We gave it back.”

Lindsey was up early this morning with two interviews already; with Hugh Hewitt and Fox & Friend's Brian Kilmeade.
Is there's a private Trump birthday bash later in the day? Maybe Melania or Ivanka have a surprise planned.
Lindsey in past years, using delightful symbols, has tweeted birthday wishes to Trump. He hasn't done so yet todày.
Many are on watch with comments when he does.

He reuses the same script -- every rally there is a story of some manly man coming up to him crying -- he always says it is from someone who does not normally cry - the last time he mentioned probably did not even cry as babies. He has some fixation of making touch, macho men cry in front of him because he is so great.

Sadly, people cry because of Trump every day. As we watch this reality horror show and grouse about what an evil bastard McConnell is, we can forget about the real people who are suffering because of the policies of this administration. It goes way beyond the horrors of his brutal immigration "policy."
Trump is a vile, rotten son of a bitch, and we have to remove him, and McConnell. I want to know, FCI, how does one remove a Senator from a leadership position? Can his fellow senators vote him out of his Majority Leader post? We have to start somewhere.
There is nothing magic about Impeachment hearings, R317, no extra powers conferred on the House if they establish an Impeachment Inquiry, as far as I know. A lot of people have romanticized the process believing the public will suddenly have an epiphany. But with all that he has said and done, already, if they haven't come to that realization they're pretty hopeless. His support erodes daily.
There are a lot of people who believe if there are public hearings on TV, like Watergate, the collective will of the people will force the Republicans in the Senate to do their job. But for example, right now almost 90% of Americans favor some kind of Gun Safety regulations, yet nothing has moved the Republicans. Not Sandy Hook, or Parkland or Emanuel AME Church killings or Pulse Night Club, or the slaughter in Las Vegas. Russian $$$ to NRA is part of the reason too.
A lot of people think Impeachment means Trump will be out. But that isn't how it works. Impeachment is like establishing a Grand Jury to interview witnesses, review evidence, then decide, based on their findings, whether to charge the President with crimes. That's impeachment, the vote to charge him. He's then turned over to the Senate for trial and removal.
And that's the problem. Without 20 Republican Senators + all Democrats right now, and without a new Senate Majority Leader, and a New Senate Judiciary Chairman, it won't happen. Bill Clinton was impeached & tried in the Senate. They didn't have enough votes in the Senate to remove him, so he continued to be President. That's what will happen to Trump.
A full court media campaign is ready to roll spinning it as a failure by the Democrats. He'll crow about it, mock us, and use it to gain support for House races. Impeachment without removal is not just an empty gesture, it's politically dangerous. The GOP is using it to divide Democrats, and erode public support for Pelosi. They believe that Impeachment failure will help them regain the House and destroy Pelosi. And the bleeding hearts and idealists out here who are screaming for impeachment refuse to recognize that. it might be useful to point out that there are not currently 218 votes for impeachment right now in the House.

Re: R337 and R341. Evidently the socio-in-chief has now decided to deploy other men's tears as validation.
Odd then than per Wolff's new book Trump sneered at Kavanaugh's TV tears when he was grandstanding for his supreme court life.
The supposed point that the landowners had never cried even as babies is a perfect example of his wild pathological lying - exaggerating idiotically for no purpose save more self-aggrandisement.

Question, and a bit off the flow.
Today, I received in the mail a "Trump Agenda Survey" from the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC. I have received something from them three or four times in the last couple of years. I toss such in the trash.
While I live in a red state, I have never voted for or contributed to Trump or the Republican Party. I was a registered Democrat in another state until moving eight years ago. I don't belong to the NRA or any GOP affiliated organizations.
I feel like writing a pointed message across the form, using some colorful and offending language. I don't want no more of their material. They code their forms.
Has anyone else received such and are not Republican? Any suggestions?

I was in a state whereby you registered by party. If one declares independent, one cannot vote in a party's primary. One is limited to the party's primary of which one is registered.
Now, I am in a state whereby one does not declare party affiliation. A registered voter can vote in either party's primary, but not both.

Has anyone else been reading the Mueller report?
I am on page 200 of volume one. I have stopped trying to read it cover to cover as I have become so infuriated by these traitors and grifters that reading it just raises my blood pressure.
I started skipping around and was reading the section on who is who. What struck me is that the identification next to Stevie mnunchin is black boxed. Just his name and two lines of black box (redacted) which I found odd.
Has anyone else noticed this or have a guess to why? I can't see how identifying him would be something redacted unless it's an on going investigation.
Any speculation? Anyone reading volume two see him there?

R385, remember that Barr invented a new category to justify redaction, "derogatory information about a peripheral figure." Perhaps the description of Mnuchin said something Barr thought was inflammatory, something like, "Mnuchin is an idiot who obtained his position at Goldman Sachs due to his father." (That's true, by the way -- Mnuchin owes everything to his father, just like Trump and Kushner). I don't think Mnuchin plays a serious role in the obstruction section, but maybe I'm forgetting something.

“Example” is the most effective means of teaching young people. A decade of Sunday School or any moral lessons means nothing weighed against example. And the President does set an example for young people.

McGahn is a Conservative with ambition. He can't stand Trump, but he is not going to go against McConnell and other Republican Party leaders and donors. He is thinking about his future with the gang at the Federalist Society. After all, he's the guy who vetted Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh and put their names out there. He also was very busy working closely with the Senate leadership to hurry up and fill those lower court federal judgeships. So his loyalty is not to Trump even though his father and Trump were friendly many years ago. Right now he's doing a balancing act, because there's a part of him that really wants to sink Trump. If McGahn agrees to testify, it might signal a slight shift in the Senate, but don't count on it. Of course he'd honor a subpoena. He's not going to jail for Trump or anyone else, but he is no John Dean.

The populous needs to confront McConnell. The Congress won't confront him, particularly him being Majority Leader in the Senate and around for decades. Yet, they forced Al Franken out over improper behaviors toward some women. Not excusing sexual harassment, but Franken was not endangering the country. McConnell is blatantly doing so.
The mainstream media fails to scrutinize and educate the public about McConnell's role in compromising U.S. elections. That includes all facets beyond the Russian intrusion stuff. Then there is scandal with his 'wife', Elaine Chao, in diverting massive funds to districts in Kentucky. More corruption!

Good article on how Trump bullied and silenced reporters and Wall Street analysts who could have revealed his financial lies back in the day. The writer was one of those people, who because of Trump, lost his job at Forbes when Trump threatened to out Malcolm Forbes if they published the truth about Trump. He finishes the article with this paragraph mentioning Miss Lindsey Graham:
His brand survived all that, and even thrived, because he wasn’t just concocting tales of his greatness; he was also forcing others to repeat them, or at least not to contradict them. It was a strategy that more recently has paid off handsomely against onetime opponents like Sen. Lindsey Graham. Nobody can succeed on this scale simply by lying. Trump’s greatest and most cynical skill, honed during the 1980s and 1990s, was learning how to win by silencing truth-tellers and suppressing the truth when it matters most.

[italic]But in a public appearance on Tuesday, President Trump’s national security adviser, John R. Bolton, said the United States was now taking a broader view of potential digital targets as part of an effort “to say to Russia, or anybody else that’s engaged in cyberoperations against us, ‘You will pay a price.’”[/italic]
What's the dynamic between Bolten and Trump?
Something I also don't understand in the case of warmongering against Iran, which is a major trade and military partner of Russia.
Russia was just waiting for Iran to fall back into their influence when Carter decided to not support the Shah fending off the religious shitheads around Khomeini. Since then Iran became a major problem in the Middle East, sponsoring terrorism, threatening US ally Israel, giving Russia a strong foothold in the Middle East and making peace talks literally impossible in the region.
I am not pro war with Iran, because the outcome is very uncertain and it would result into a major humanitarian disaster, but I would favor any effort to free the country of its medieval government. That's what Iranians want too.

Hey, IMO, the NYT is in Trump's pocket, otherwise, why break a story like this. Who was their source? Bet it wasn't anyone at the CIA. Although it could have been someone attached to the Big Four or the Big Eight. Would not put it past someone on McCarthy or McConnell's staff to leak it if they found out. But I would assume that along with trying to keep Trump in the dark, the Intel guys were probably not sharing muchu with McConnell or McCarthy either. The point is this is something that causes harm by being leaked. I'd rather not see this exposed. I'd rather our "deep state" CIA gys were doing their jobs and not sharing. And the fact is, if his own intelligence operations don't trust him, then maybe it's time Congress got off their asses. Because McConnell is the absolute worst. He is worse than Trump by a mile.

Well, in a way the article baited him. Watching him rant about it, it is clear he is angry at his own CIA for trying to protect us from Russia. That says it all. What more does Congress need? The Senate ought to remove McConnell from leadership right now, censure him, and let the FBI have at him. Because that fucker is a criminal.

I think there have been a couple of articles about that, but they ought to be exposed and arrested now to send a loud message. I know some members of our military, and some cops are shakey too. But it is not as widespread as they want us to think, and honestly if it comes to a fight, I'm fucking ready. I will kick a motherfucker's ass to get rid of Trump and all the vermin he unleashed. THis is the kind of shit I worry about. Cyber attacks on our electrical grids.
R454, I stopped trusting the NYT a while ago. For every one article they get right, there are a dozen where they are SO wrong. Suspiciously wrong. Here's what I believe is going on: The U.S. Intelligence community is investigating, monitoring, and fighting cyber attacks, and that they did withhold this information from Trump. Hope they've done this with a lot of other intelligence, too. I was actually relieved to read it.
I don't think Trump's people planted this. I think this was (1) leaked deliberately either to alert Trump, or (2) maybe our Intel people let it out here to make sure the International intelligence community knows we are not sharing info with Trump.
(3) Putin has been pretty aggressive lately. His planes almost caused an accident with ours, and his ship got way too close to ours. So he is messing with us, and maybe it's because he was pissed about our Intel people. Hell, maybe he leaked it through a 3rd party.

Well, there’s this, R477.
Dr. Bandy Lee, who is a professor of psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine and editor of the bestselling book "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump" convened a panel comprised of leading mental health experts to evaluate Donald Trump based upon his behavior as detailed in the Mueller report.
Their definitive conclusion: Trump is mentally unfit, a threat to the United States and the world, and as such should have his powers severely restricted. At the invitation of several Democratic members of Congress, Lee and other mental health professionals will present their findings about Donald Trump's mental health at what they hope will be a bipartisan congressional meeting in Washington next month.
A mentally unwell person like Donald Trump can no longer see reality for what it is. Instead he has to believe in false beliefs. A person like him has to lie to himself and lie to others. They have to distort the truth. They have to espouse conspiracy theories in order to even tolerate existing in this world, let alone facing reality. A mentally unwell person like Trump cannot accept facts for what they are. He cannot accept the results of the Mueller report as they are. People around Trump sense this. That is why Attorney General Barr, who is supposed to represent the law, actually distorted the law in order to buttress and protect Donald Trump.
My expertise is medical. In that capacity I can state that unless Donald Trump is contained or removed, he is posing a danger to public health and safety. As president, Trump represents a condition of imminent danger to the country and the world. Therefore my recommendation is that Donald Trump be immediately contained and certain powers are taken away from him.
[I would like to highlight two of our greatest concerns. Immediate removal from access to nuclear weapons. The fact that an individual with access to thousands of nuclear weapons which have the capacity to destroy humanity and the world many times over is certainly an unacceptable situation with Donald Trump's level of mental incapacity. The war-making powers are vested in a president. We ask that Donald Trump's ability to make war be removed because he certainly is not in a position to have such powers. ]

It is basically just, "Good luck out there. It's the free market. Deal or don't. We don't care." They know it doesn't work for the majority.

R503 is right. The Republican Party was already corrupt. That's why Putin and his wealthy oligarchs targeted them. Not saying Democrats a re pure, but they do care about governing and they do care about helping people . Two things happened to accelerate the levels of corruption. One was the internet/ascendance of social media. It has been effectively weaponized. Second, but of equal importance. The Supreme Court issuing the Citizens United decision which held that money was a exercise in free speech, opening the floodgates for the dark money, and the corruption We're experiencing. Oh, and the third thing, the one that got us here today: 2010. We were so busy singing Kumbaya, and congratulating ourselves about electing Obama, we didn't show up. We had a Democratic majority in both houses since 2006. But we didn't show up and vote and we literally gave away the House and the Senate. Elections have Consequences.

R505, and 2010 was important because of the census. So the Gerrymandering got locked in after the midterms. And yes, 2020 we'll have a census once again. So we have to hold the House, the Senate, and we have to gain control of state legislatures and the State wide office holders like Secretary of State ( they control elections) Attorneys General, and the fucking governors and the state courts who have to approve the re-districting plans. I'm appalled at how little coverage the media gives to state issues. I'm talking our local media, print and electronic. Our schools, our prison systems, our elections, etc are all state decisions.

Of course Iran didn't do it. THis is contrived by the monsters who are attempting to run game on the rest of the world. Bolton, Netanyahu, and the Neo Con gang have been sitting in their basement cave trying to come up with a pretext for going after Iran for years. The attacks we suffered on 9-11 were supposed to suffice, but it didn't work. Then there was the Israel thing. Netanyahu was supposed to create a pretext, some incident that would allow the Israelis to get into a fight with Lebanon, and we would come to their aid. The only thing that has restrained these warmongers is the rest of the European community who refused to commit to helping is do a war in the Middle East. Bush/Cheney covered up a lot but they couldn't hide the fact that they had very few allies for Iraq, and Trump is trying to cobble together a new coalition with the Saudis in the lead. It's not working. Aks yourselves with Venezuela in chaos, and Iran in the shitter, the Saudis and Putin stand to benefit as far as oil and gas suppliers.

We are seriously going to regret it if we dare start a war with Iran. You think Russia will stand by? Of China? They will fuck with a very weakened America. This will kill our already trillion dollar debt (thank you, GOP, for yet another budget busting tax cut for the rich).
Of course, this will only benefit the rich. And their kids won't be fighting.

I don’t think they are planning a war. I think it’s much more sinister than that. The war is the cover. Complete and total control is the goal.
They couldn’t pull this off until high-speed internet reached critical mass.
It has.

Outside the Amway Center, where President Trump will officially kick off his 2020 re-election bid at 8 p.m. Tuesday, about two dozen people and counting had staked out a spot along Division Street as of Monday morning.
"This is the big one," said Jennifer Petito, 54, of Melbourne. "This is the mother of all rallies."

Big hits today power with the Supreme Court upholding state sovereignty over the double-jeaopardy challenge and pulling the teeth out of his pardon powers and they also threw back the anti-gay religious assholes to the lower courts. Furthermore, the pressure to impeach comes from the asshole impeaching himself with outrageous statements.
They fall hard, once they fall. He's teetering. Bad poll numbers, his big interview was beaten in the numbers by some lame game show. If he loses, and lives long enough, or not in jail, think he would run again in 2024? He will spend his 4 years off like he did leading up to 2016, going after the Dem president and once again, driving his base rabid.

Alll this scary talk about him not leaving office if he loses is bullshit. He may not want to leave. But he will leave. He has to. And if it takes the Secret Service and federal marshals to escort him out of the building he will go. Now in my dream scenario, the FBI is waiting outside the door with handcuffs to charge him, then he will be sent to NY so the Attorney General can also charge him with state crimes. That fucker is going down.

Howard Dean was on Chris Hayes tonight making a convincing case in support of Pelosi's maneuvering. Said that the press is trying to fram her slow-walking as refusing to take action, when in fact she's letting public and congressional support build before agreeing to impeachment. After all, her superpower as Speaker has been knowing when she does or does not have the votes. As of tonight, 67 House members support starting impeachment inquiries. And that number's going to keep rising.
It seems clear that at some point the pressure to impeach is going to become overwhelming, esp. with all the shit they're trying to get away with.
